National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) and Alpha Epsilon Phi (AEPhi) Create Strategic Alliance

Mon, 07 Mar 2016

Kaufman, CEO of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW, Inc.), and Bonnie Wunsch, Executive Director of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority (AEPhi), are proud to announce an official strategic alliance between their two organizations. In the early 20th century, National Council of Jewish Women founder Hannah G. Solomon was initiated as a National Honorary Member of AEPhi. As a symbol of the high regard the sorority has for Hannah’s legacy, the current national president is given Hannah’s special pin. This is an indelible link between the… read more...

Founders’ Day 2015

Fri, 23 Oct 2015

October 23, 2015
Dear Sisters,
Tomorrow AEPhis from Atlantic to Pacific are celebrating Founders' Day and the sisterhood that was created when Helen Phillips, Ida Beck, Rose Gerstein, Augustina "Tina" Hess, Lee Reiss, Rose Salmowitz and Stella Strauss gathered in Brooks Hall at Barnard College in 1909. At that time, sororities would not allow Jewish women to join their organizations; they were discriminated against and forced to create separate organizations. The discrimination was frustrating for our founders and it fostered the idea of forming their own organization, promising friendship and… read more...
