Presidents Academy

Alpha Epsilon Phi’s second Presidents Academy was held February 1-3, 2013 at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD.  The concept of annual training for new chapter leaders early in their terms and connecting them with the volunteers and staff they work with had been a wish of many for many years.  Thanks to the generosity of key donors and Alpha Epsilon Phi Foundation’s willingness to make a major commitment to help fund this program, we were able to see that dream come true again this year.

The chapter and colony presidents were given useful information and benefited from many helpful presentations.  They also had the opportunity to spend time with members of National Council, our operations specialists and our staff.   As everyone headed back to their chapters/colonies and lives, it was clear that the second Presidents Academy was as successful (if not more so) than the first one.  The participants left feeling prepared to lead their chapters and colonies and were grateful for the opportunity to partake in such a meaningful weekend.  Feedback from participants included quotes such as:

“I can't even explain to you how much this helped me! I am so excited that I was able to go, and I now feel much more confident going into my term as president.”

“I truly cannot stop thinking about everything I learned and am taking back from Presidents Academy.  Holding PA shows every chapter how important we are to each other and to the national team. That support and effort put forward by the National team/TECs/volunteers/Foundation was absolutely inspiring.”

“It was so incredibly helpful.   I left Presidents Academy feeling like I was bursting with new ideas and strategies.  I feel well trained and confident going back to my chapter.”

“ I feel so much better about my presidency because of this, and I am beyond excited to start this journey.   I learned a lot about leadership and how to better my sorority.

The work done at Presidents Academy will have a lasting effect on all our chapters and colonies, as well as to our volunteers, as a result of the information shared and received during the weekend, and the relationships formed.   All in attendance were so grateful that the Alpha Epsilon Phi Foundation and special donors had the foresight to fund the program that will benefit all aspect of our sorority’s undertakings.
